What is the role of resistors in computers, radios and other small appliances ?
To put it simply, they just serve as on/off switches right ?
Just hoping someone could go a little more in depth on it please ?

Resistors limit current, set current values, divide voltages, change their value to ensure stability as temperature changes, set bias points for amplifiers and other circuits. Yes, they can even serve as on/off switches by setting control points for semiconductor switches like thyristors, but for sure they provide a lot more services than that.
